Welcome to My Fun Zone
Shanghai-bred, raised in Chicago, with multiple years of studying abroad, passionate about gender bias elimination, and identity searching in growth, education, and workplaces.
As a child, my family urged me to fearlessly chase my passions. But as I grew older, I couldn’t help but notice the invisible boundaries imposed on me by society. I heard “no” more often than my male peers and was told the things I wanted to do were “not proper for a girl.”
This introspection ignited my entrepreneurial spirit and desire to shatter the glass ceilings set for women by building something remarkable with my own hands.

BORN D. BORN TO FLOURISH
BORN TO BE YOURSELF
BORN D. is an inclusive space that focuses on eliminating gender bias in the growth, education, and workplaces of young girls.
After years of scaling social media accounts, running successful campaigns, and diving into various movements from activism to web3, it became crystal clear to me that the most powerful brands are the ones that ignite the fire within people—turning mere followers into advocates who take action. That's why I founded BORN D.
"D" in our logo represents "male" in traditional Chinese culture. All characteristics of Chinese patriarchy encourage the favoring of giving birth of boys, who in social representations are bestowed with numerous assets inherent to their sex, including the assurance of perpetuating the family lineage, taking care of their parents in old age, transmitting the family inheritance, and providing economic support.
Starting from a demographic perspective, we found a large portion of differentiated treatment of males and females, and it has knock-on effects in many areas of society: education, career development, psychological health, etc. That's why we want to create a powerful narrative that resonates deeply with these girls' identities and values. For us, Born D. is the safest and most comfortable place that helps them scale their power and superscale their influence at large.
As a co-founder of this organization, we established our social media channel, podcasts and successfully held offline book clubs and exhibitions.

Flower Roll Bakery
Flower Roll is a bakery brand founded in 2012. I joined the company as a creative marketing specialist.
Cake has a very special function, that is, a sense of ritual. It always appears on a memorable occasion. Its existence tells us that we have something worth celebrating, either to commemorate a birthday or to commemorate a special day, such as a proposal, a higher education, a salary increase, etc. It is the source of happiness. That's why I am quite delighted to join Flower Roll and bring happiness to our customers.
Most of our customers are young females aged 25-35. They love to have fun, know how to pursue a better life, and are obsessed with beauty. We want to let the girls know even if life has ups and downs, never forget to treat themselves with beauty and sweetness. Some of our signature cakes are illustrated down below.
"Thirteen Stores, Annual Sales of 60 million, Why Flower Roll?"
"No Artificial Coloring, We Want to Bring the Natural Taste to All the Girls"
Our Signature
Mother's Day cake was inspired by the majority of our women customers. Some of them are young moms who love to have fun and pursue the beauty of life. We use carnations, roses, daisies, and peonies as beautiful cake decorating, which typically represent mothering and love in Chinese culture. We create an ombre effect on the cake by using different shades of warm colors from top to bottom and decorated with pearls, bows, etc.

“no artificial coloring added, flower-roll is always my first cake choice"
Wang, Shanghai
"fresh and clean, never get tired of flower-roll cake ."
Yue, Shanghai
“well-designed cake, love the different festival theme"
Can cake was inspired by camping activities among the Z-generation in the post-pandemic era. After months of lockdown, camping has become the ultimate social event. Our cake can be stored in the traditional can, which is easy to carry and serves the portions of a small group conveniently.
SummerIce Cake came to the market in 2022 and sweept across the eastern China quickly, ranking the first place of the “The Best Cake List” in Shanghai. We use fresh berries with peppermint mixture cremini on the top and the frozen cake at the bottom to make it refreshing and palatable. No one can miss it in the baking-hot summertime!

A ragged, old, thin woman sits in the corner of a crumbling, gloomy room, a chain around her neck that is fastened to a house. At the end of January 2022, a video clip of this very scene went viral on the Chinese internet. The woman in the video could not understand others or express herself well. This image shocked many people and struck many people’s hearts. Who is this woman? What happened to her? Why is she chained up in her home? Why are the living conditions so bad?

Women of ethnic minorities have often been misrepresented in mainstream media as a single, homogenous group based solely on the most surface-level aspects of their identity, like gender, ethnicity, or class. Japanese-American women belong to a minority group whose experiences are primarily influenced by gender, ethnicity, and religion. By engaging in conversations that foster greater understanding and acceptance of diverse identities, we can work towards creating a society that celebrates and embraces all of its members. Examining the self-definition of Japanese-American women through an intersectional lens, recognizing the intricate interplay of multiple identities shaped by factors such as race, gender, ethnicity, religion, and more.
Growing up in a patriarchal environment, I often heard phrases like “you can’t,” or “you should,” throughout my childhood. I never had such relief after saying something rebellious. Just as Karen Martin mentions in “Becoming a Gendered Body,” there are hidden controls that “regulate children's bodily practices to shape them cognitively” but these rules serve “another purpose as well”

Dr.Goldin won a Nobel in Economics for studying women in the workforce this year.
She has trawled the archives and collected over 200 years of data from the US, allowing her to demonstrate how and why gender differences in earnings and employment rates have changed over time. Dr.Goldin showed that female participation in the labor market did not have an upward trend over this entire period, but instead formed a U-shaped curve. She explained this pattern as the result of structural change and evolving social norms regarding women’s responsibilities for home and family.
As a passionate fan of Claudia Goldin, my personal interest has largely aligned with her research focus. I have witnessed how much endeavors my mom needs to put in order to get the earnings as much as her male colleagues. Such disparity ignited my desire to shatter the glass ceilings set for women by building a remarkable enterprise with my own hands. The salary gap or, to a large extent, gender inequality in the workforce is considered one of the severe social issues in East Asia.
